2023
EVENTS

Death Rattle has always relied on it’s strength of community -- being able to gather together to celebrate each other and your presence of work. While public gathering has in the past been a staple of the ways in which we as a community celebrate one another, Death Rattle will be as committed as ever to providing platforms for that same celebration while we all stay safely at home.

Below you’ll find our calendar featuring a mix of online & in person poetry readings, online workshops, submission opportunities, and our live storytelling series, The Spill.

FOUR WORDS

poetry, fiction, comics, and review

Underneath our Four Words open-house day of 1-hr workshops, we will hold places year-round to read, write, draw, and have peer-review of your work so you can get that feedback and encouragement to make that submission deadline you were looking at, join us at the print shop, to expand your creative resources, or perform your work in a meaningful space that’s about uplifting our community’s work to know better who we are as people and who we are as artists.

Each student will get a chance to share about their work in a circle -- the writer will read a few segments aloud, speak about the piece, and then the next student will repeat the process- while other students are strongly encouraged to write and share thoughts, impressions, and insight into the work on their copy of the piece! Round table discussion moderated by the instructor Diana Forgione and the class to follow each piece. ⁣

The instructor will send out the pieces to everyone the week of class to give ample time to read and write comments. We’ll send everyone their own copy to open in google drive during the class so that comments can be made beforehand, and added and discussed live during the class and we can share those documents back to each writer. ⁣
