✹ Comic Workshop Class 2

  • Death Rattle Writers Festival 203 22nd Ave South (map)

✹ Come join us for this adult all-levels Four-week comic creating workshop! We will be creating comics/zines focusing on: Narrative & Dialogue, Character Creation, Paneling, Zine & Printmaking and Peer Review.

Each class will have an open hour prior to the class start time to free draw, socialize, and share/read comics brought by instructors or other peers.

This workshop will meet Sunday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 PM on August 4th, 11th, 18th, and Sept 1st.

Sometimes our emotions and experiences are so transformative that the best way to articulate ourselves is through a tactile relationship between words and visuals. Comic books communicate an intense atmosphere that delves thoughtfully into the themes anywhere from hyper realism, poetics, stoner humor, fantasy/sci-fi fiction, horror and abstract surrealism.

These workshops are intended to encourage a creative space for both visual and narrative based artists that will replicate and draw from the vitality and social energy of zine fairs and comics festivals. We want to highlight and build a community around how comics are made starting with the underlying creative labour that gets a comic started in the creator and to how it gets onto the page.

This workshop series is age: 18+
Limited capacity of 12 students for this series.

4 Classes - Aug 4 , 11, 18, and Sept 1.
