Workshop: Noir - Hard Boiled Despair

Welcome to our FREE writing workshops that Death Rattle Writers Festival host annually. In addition to a thrilling workshop, we will be focusing on the FLASH FICTION theme for intended readings on October 5th on day four of the festival.

Death Rattle Workshop Series: Noir: Hard Boiled Despair
For beginning to intermediate writers, this workshop draws on the
diverse styles of Noir fiction and film such as hardboiled, existential, neo, and today’s contemporary variations on these rooted fiction styles. We will also be focusing on intersectionality in a genre that has been predominantly cis-male based. We will also explore the elements of noir classically attributed to the genre as they apply to others forms ofliterature and media.

Diana Forgione is the co-founder, host, and organizer of the Death Rattle Writers Festival, a Christopher Walken lookalike, a freelance writer and poet, and a judge and workshop instructor for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Their current interests are hard boiling eggs and deconstructing the psychosphere. They have an MFA in creative writing, are a member of the Writers Guild of America and perform their poetry at literary events across the PNW, including readings at Treefort Music Festival, Ghost and Projectors, The Cabin literary center and many others. They are currently refining an anthology of poetry for publication.
